Well positioned, 400 metres from the centre of Courmayeur and the ski lifts, our hotel offers you the opportunity to stay in an exclusive and comfortable chalet. The elegant alpine ambience faithfully reproduces the poor art of our region and creates an atmosphere of warmth and intimacy.
The hotel, which was built as a typical Swiss chalet in the immediate post-war period, was renovated in the first decade of the current millennium and has been offering its guests something new every year since then. Only wood and other materials recovered from the existing structure and other old Alpine residences have been used - and handcrafted.
Management and ownership have always been in the hands of the same family of valley dwellers, now in its fourth generation. Owners and staff work in complete harmony to make you feel at home. You will find an informal atmosphere where cordiality and good mood reign. Children are welcome. Dogs are loved and will find our Giotto to welcome them.
The lounge bar, with a fireplace that is always lit in winter, is amazing.
The restaurant has been awarded “Saveurs du Val d'Aoste” label by the Aosta Valley Region for the typicality of its ambience and the food products cooked. You will eat à la carte, we do not offer a half-board rate. If you dine every evening, you will benefit from a discount on the food. The wine list, designed to offer mainly Italian wines and, as for the mountain ones, those from the Aosta Valley, has around 150 selected labels.
From the Hotel Svizzero there is a wonderful view over the Dente del Gigante and the characteristic village of Dolonne. It has two large terraces, a green and grassy one for bar use and a wooden one with a hot tub for solarium use.
The Pré-Saint-Didier thermal baths are located a few kilometres from our hotel. Invigorating waterfalls, whirlpools with thermal water, saunas and relaxation rooms. Panoramic outdoor pools make the majestic panorama of Mont Blanc even more impressive. Hotel guests can enjoy exclusive discounts on spa tickets, making their holiday experience even more relaxing and convenient.
Walter Hurzeler, the son of a Swiss artisan from Aargau who came to Courmayeur at the beginning of the 20th century to prospect for gold in Mont Blanc, was a very good carpenter. With the advent of winter tourism, he also specialised in the construction of skis. In the immediate post-war period, since his home-workshop was located halfway between the village centre and the sledge that transported skiers to Chécrouit, he decided to build a small boarding house next to it to be run by his wife and two daughters. It was soon sold and with the proceeds his house was transformed into a real hotel, all in wood. Its origins gave it its name. It was a simple two-star hotel. Half a century later, the third generation has renovated while retaining the style and name. Just the category has changed.
